October 7, 2004  R&R Smooth Jazz Notes/Kenny Cortes on Steve Oliver Concert

'Last week (September 27) CD104.3 listeners were treated to one of the most exciting guitarist/entertainers in the format today. Steve Oliver left all in attendance at the Marriott’s Columbine Ball Room breathless. His set prominently featured tracks from 3-D, his new album, including ‘Chips and Salsa’, which had everybody dancing in the aisles. By the time he played ‘High Noon’ from Positive Energy, the wow factor had exploded into a full-on frenzy. I’ve had the privilege to experience great guitarists from Hendrix to Golub. None have impressed me so much as this dynamic artist. He is, in a word, awesome.'

July 7, 2001  Clarification About End Of Simulcast

To clarify Clear Channel's decision to end WWLV/West Palm Beach's nearly three years of simulcast with heritage Smooth Jazz WLVE (Love 94)/Miami, as reported in R&R, WWLV PD Dave Denver confirmed that the two stations have, indeed, separated and WWLV stands alone. While Love 94 personalities — morning man Kenny Cortes and middayer Gina Martell — are voicetracking and the two stations are sharing such resources as The Dave Koz Radio Show and Ramsey Lewis' Legends of Jazz, their programming is separate. "It's a local initiative to better promote our own dial position and things going on in our West Palm Beach community," Denver told R&R, "while we're taking advantage of the 'Love 94' brand that we've established over the past three years."
