Interview: Kenny Noble Cortes

Artist and producer Jason Miles talks candidly with Kenny in this unique, cd interview

First off, congratulations on completing and releasing 'What's Goin' On: The Music of Marvin Gaye'. What does that feel like to take on a project that will be gone over with a fine tooth comb by Marvin Gaye fans?

Why was 'Sexual Healing' selected as the first release?

How did MG go over in Reading at the Berks Jazz Festival?

Your compilation of Ivan Lins standards raised the bar. It united some of the best elements of pop, rock, r&b and jazz in a tribute to the legendary Ivan Lins. That must have been very satisfying.

Tell us about 'Miles to Miles'. On the surface, it seems like a natural for you. How long was this banging around in your head before it became a reality?

Miles Davis, Weather Report, Grover, Marvin...you have worked with true legends. Can you give us some insight into these artists as people?

Have you ever wondered why some artists like yourself seem always to be on the cutting edge, and for others, careers are cut short, or just fade away? Do you ever worry about your fate, your legacy as an artist?

Must have been cool to get an Emmy nomination for your work with Disney. What's it like to work with a corporate giant, massive by anyone's standards? I guess what I mean is, does the 'personal touch' get lost?

Speaking of Disney, I recall way back when, that Disney gave us a picture of what life would be like in 2000. Very futuristic. What are your own impressions of life in this millennium? Has the music evolved to your liking?

What is the singular goal you are most proud of?
